Fengate, Peterborough
Bioscan were involved in the redevelopment of the Fengate Sewage Treatment Works in Peterborough between 1996 and 2022, from pre-application surveys for Anglian Water through to various successor landowners with development aspirations for the site. Adjoining the STW was a somewhat forgotten area of former marsh on low lying land adjoining the River Nene. A management plan for the site was produced to accompany the successful planning application for residential redevelopment that was ultimately constructed by Kier Homes, with the marshland passed over to the City Council for management. The management plan included interventions to expand habitat for water voles, tackle invasive species, arrest scrub expansion and drying out processes, care for mature trees, control access and provide interpretation for visitors, including by means of information boards designed by Bioscan staff.
