PRINCIPAL ECOLOGIST

Ben graduated with an honours degree in wildlife management from Sparsholt in 2002. After periods as a freelance ornithological consultant and part time researcher, he was employed full-time by Bioscan in 2007. He is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM). He was made a Principal Ecologist at Bioscan (UK) in 2024.

Ben’s particular area of expertise is in ornithological surveys, including for windfarm developments, but as well as an expanding role in project management, he also conducts a variety of other field surveys including Phase 1 habitat and botanical surveys and protected species surveys, in particular badgers, bats and great crested newts. He holds Natural England survey licences for bats and great crested newt.
